Senior management team

Our senior management team run the business on behalf of our Board.

Richard Jennings, Managing Director

Richard was appointed Managing Director in January 2017. He was previously Head of Property from October 2014 handling our capital investment and commercial activities. Before joining Castle Rock Edinvar Richard was Head of Development at East Lothian Council. Richard has strong public and private sector experience, having worked in local and central government, as well as for KPMG and PwC.

Richard has a PhD in Geomorphology from the University of Wellington and a BSc in Geography from the University of Glasgow.

Richard is a Board member of Volunteer Scotland and chair of the Audit and Scrutiny Committee.

Chris Thomson, Director of Property Services

Chris is our Head of Property which includes our Procurment and Investment, Voids and Home Repairs (our in-house contractor) teams. Chris has worked within the social housing sector for around 22 years. Before joining Castle Rock Edinvar in 2009, Chris was Operations Director at Blackwood Housing Association managing many cross functional teams.

Chris gained experience of the housing sector through time in development, housing and maintenance. Chris is a Trustee of the Crags Community Sports Centre, a community managed resource within the Southside of Edinburgh.

Chris has an BSc (Honours) in Building Engineering Management.

Kelly McIntyre-Greene, Director of Investment

Kelly was appointed Director of Investment in August 2018. Before joining Castle Rock Edinvar, Kelly was Commercial Director and Director of Social Impact for PetroStars UK. Kelly was the Programme Manager for Community Shares Scotland from 2013-2017 whereby she honed her skills in impact investment, emerging finance, community and social empowerment, assets, regeneration, social enterprise, and community engagement. Her time as the Trust and Enterprise Manager for the Fintry Development Trust. Kelly led Fintry Development Trust to reduce fuel poverty by over 30% throughout her tenure through a range of innovative and collaborative sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.  

Kelly read Socio-cultural Anthropology and American Studies at both Scripps College (Claremont University Consortium) in California and at Colby College in Maine (USA). Kelly is a changemaker and an active member of a range of local, regional, national, and international committees and boards. 

Sarah Ogden, Director of Customer Experience

Sarah Ogden has joined Castle Rock Edinvar from East Lothian Council where she was Head Teacher of Pinkie St Peter's Primary School.  Prior to her career in education Sarah worked in the financial services industry for Nationwide across a range of roles. Over the last five years Sarah has worked with the Pinkie community to build their confidence and resilience, focussing on the needs of every child and their family. Working with staff, parents, the lcoal community and colleagues from academia, government and the wider public sector Sarah built a community approach to solving problems and tackling inequality. The success of this approach has created opportunities to influence the Poverty Commission and Scottish Parliament. At the core of her values is getting it right for customers.

And...Sarah has an old VW T25 which she loves and in return it starts when it chooses, so any help is always appreciated!

Paula Rice, Head of Finance

Paula joined the Castle Rock Team in 2012 to head up the Finance department for the Scottish Group. She has been part of Senior Management in a range of businesses across a variety of sectors, both commercial and 3rd Sector. Paula has travelled widely and worked in organisations across the world. She trained in public practice and spent time as a manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a postgraduate Honours in Accounting Science and is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA).

Mark Small, Human Resources Manager

Mark joined Castle Rock Edinvar in October 1997, and has been Human Resources Manager since 1999.  Mark's team deliver a comprehensive HR service for Castle Rock Edinvar & PfP Scotland staff, including organisational development, recruitment, learning & development, employee relations and health & safety.  Prior to joining Castle Rock Edinvar, Mark held HR roles in both the public and private sector.

Mark is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, has a University Diploma in Personnel Management from Thames Valley University and a BA in Accounting from Napier University.

Laura Hay-Heddle, Business Manager

Laura joined Castle Rock Edinvar in 2009 & has worked in both the Lettings Team and in Income Collection Team. She recently joined the SMT in the newly created Business Manager role.

Laura has a MA in English and Film Studies from the University of Aberdeen & is currently studying for a PgDip in Housing Studies from Stirling University.

Shelley Hutton, Customer Service and Research Manager

Shelley is an experienced housing professional first joining the association in 1996 as a tenant participation officer. She has held various roles and is now Customer Service and Research Manager. This suits her experience and skills in customer involvement, policy development, communication, complaints handling, stakeholder research and service improvement.

Shelley has an MA (Hons) in Politics and Modern History from the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Housing from Edinburgh College of Art/Heriot Watt University. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is the Vice Chair of U-Evolve - a small charity based in North Edinburgh with an ACEs focus.
